My Current Skincare Routine

Helloooo, I am back, after how many months?? I’m not even sure! I’ve been reflecting recently I really did love writing and sharing stuff on here. And now having more or less finished University for good, I’ve finally got some time to start creating content across all platforms again. So I’m super excited to start sharing with you all again!

During lockdown I have become a lot more conscious about my skincare routine, probably because I’ve been wearing makeup a lot less, and less makeup when I do! I was lucky enough to be sent the Jasmine and Retinol Collection by Pixi Beauty a few months back now and I’ve been using the entire collection since I received it so I could come on here and share how I felt. I’ve really being loving the collection and it’s really been great for my skin type. My skin is combination but mostly dry so hydration is crucial for my skin without too much surface oil. I recently also received one of their new products, the Glow Tonic, which I have implemented into my routine also.

My Skincare Routine Collection

Pixi Beauty are cruelty-free, and use natural, clean and healthy ingredients, which are all factors I’m trying to become a lot more conscious about when choosing products and brands that I use.

I want to take the time to talk about each product in turn more in-depth and then discuss the results as a whole! So feel free to jump to the section that you want to read!

My Skincare Routine

I just love when instagram skincare pages do these little texture snaps so I tried to do one myself! But these are the 5 main products that I use within my skincare range at the moment.

Micellar Water

First things first, which has been a staple of my skincare for ages now and probably is used by most people, is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I start off my skincare with this if I have been wearing any makeup, especially heavy eye-makeup and such as it’s really good at lifting product rather than pushing it further into your pores. This is the one for Sensitive Skin which I’ve found works best for me. There is an Oil Infused one but I absolutely hated it, it wasn’t for my skin at all and actually made me break out so that’s something to definitely bare in mind when choosing if your skin is sensitive to certain oils (however everyone’s skin is different so!). But great staple, great value for money, and does it’s job!

Glow Tonic

I’ve been using the Glow Tonic for over a month now and I’m really happy with the visible results I am seeing. I was beginning to get self conscious about my skin, due to an acne like breakout on the sides of my face, I believe it was my skin getting clogged from wearing a mask a lot of the time! Either way, this stuff has really helped transform my skin, helping clear up my acne fully, and giving my skin a hydrated and glow look and feel. I would even say that this is my favourite skincare product out of them all now and it’s become a staple I cannot go without.

For the more science-y side of why this stuff is so good, is mainly down to the glycolic acid which is great for the skin to help purify and exfoliate, really cleansing the skin and getting rid of anything clogging your pores or dead skin. This tonic also contains aloe vera which is great for soothing and hydrating the skin, which is perfect for skin types like mine that find their skin to be sensitive and particularly dry. One thing I have noticed so much with using this is my skin texture is so much better, and when it comes to wearing makeup, I don’t want to wear such a heavy foundation, and products aren’t clinging to dry patches. Other ingredients include ginseng to improve circulation and energise skin, as well as fructose and sucrose to boost cell renewal for a brighter and glowing complexion.

Oils for Day and Night

Without repeating myself too much, these oils are both from the retinol range so they’re both specialised to helping skin hydration and plumpness and also improving the appearance of pores and fine lines. The ceramides in the Overnight Oil is specialised to realise moisture over time during the night whilst your skin is revitalising. Ceramides are also great for the skin when it comes to protecting against external aggressors such as pollution, so basically they’re all about keeping your skin barrier strong. The day oil, which is the Jasmine Oil, has a few extra ingredients in there such as Jasmine Flower Extract which heals and balances, evening Primrose to boosts circulation and hydrate, and lastly Grape Seed Oil which promotes collagen restoration. To use these oils, just warm them up in your hands, and then I find it best to just press them into the skin rather than rubbing.

Retinol Jasmine Lotion

Now this lotion is looking pretty battered at this point ahah, but if anything it only supports my point that I use this little thing SO MUCH, and it’s still going! I carry this dude around in my makeup bag so he comes with me everywhere I go, so that’s why the packaging is unreadable at this point! But this is the lotion from the Retinol Jasmine Collection. I use this as part of my skincare routine day and night, and then I will also used it before putting makeup on because I just love what it does for my skin.

Retinol Eye Cream

I mainly use this eye cream in a morning and before makeup. I feel like it’s the type of product that I didn’t realise I needed until I started using it and seeing a difference, and then when I forget to use it I’m like sh*t I look tired ahaha. This cream is super hydrating and smoothing for under eyes because of the retinol, allowing makeup to really nicely sit under the eyes, and also on the eye. It also contains caffeine which de-puffs those morning tired eyes giving you a fresh awake look, which when you suffer from lack of sleep like me it’s a god send! A little tip is you can also use this around your lips to plump any lines you have too!

Retinol Eye Cream from Pixi Beauty

So all in all I’m super happy with the products that Pixi have sent me and therefore genuinely have implemented them into my skin routine and will definitely be repurchasing my favourites! If you’ve tried any Pixi Beauty goodies let me know which ones!!

Thank you for reading x
